Condemnation. Guilt. Self-realization. False identity. Pride. Fear. Incompetence. Shame.
How many times have you spoken these lies over yourself when it comes to being vulnerable with others?
“What will they think of me?"
“I’ll just get hurt again."
“I’ll be fine. Everything will be fine."
“Will this hurt them when I tell them?”
“What does this mean for me?"
“I don’t want to look weak."
“I’m just being dramatic."
“Will they use this against me later on?"
“Where do I go from here?”
These thoughts are not of yourself. These are thoughts the enemy has planted in your mind to keep you from sharing. He doesn’t want you to be vulnerable, open and honest. He wants to keep you in the dark. For what is exposed to the light can never be quenched by darkness.
“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (1)
You were made for good. You were made to be open. You were made to be free. When you walk up to a bird, whether it be in the park, on a sidewalk or even in your backyard, what does it do? It flies away. It is not contained or restricted by anything that this world has to offer.
Just as much as birds have that freedom, so do we. That freedom is found through Jesus. How is that freedom embodied here on Earth?
Through His followers.
“Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.” (2)
“So, we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.” (3)
We were made like and for the image of Christ. The more we drain and empty ourselves of the world, the more room we have for Christ in us. The more room there is for Him to fill us and use us as His vessels.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (4)
The Holy Spirit is always interceding on our behalf. You are never alone. Chances are, someone else is or has felt the same exact way you feel right now.
If you had a list of tasks to complete and had a partner to help you with said things, but never told them about the list of things to do, how would they ever know they had things to do? How would they ever know they had a task to accomplish? These people would never know if you did not share. Through your sharing, as scary as it may be, you will find freedom there.
You will find community there.
“So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” (5)
You will find Jesus’ sweet, unconditional love. He’s already there. He’s just waiting for you to join HIm.
“The cross doesn’t expose your sin. It removes your sin to expose your value.” (6)
There is no condemnation at the foot of the cross. Only sweet blessings and reminders of what Jesus really thinks about you. Wherever you are today, you are enough. No matter where you’ve come from or where you’re going, you are chosen, loved, adored and never alone.
Together, We Are Unveiled.
