Children in the church are taught little songs, told cute stories, and shown memorable videos to instill in them the truth that God loves them. But that knowledge rarely gets from our minds into our hearts. I didn’t grow up in church, but after I accepted Christ in my teen years, I spent decades teaching children about the love of this God, while not fully understanding the ramifications myself.

What’s amazing about God is that he’s not just good at loving, he hasn’t grown proficient at it over years of trial and error, he doesn’t flex his love muscles to get something from others, he is love. That’s something that I can’t possibly understand, but I’m willing to dive in and draw closer to him daily to better grasp this incredible truth.

You might not believe that love is real, you might doubt the existence of God, you might love the Lord to the best of your ability, or anywhere in between and, no matter where you find yourself, know that you’re in the right place.

Honestly, this is a subject that I still wrestle with. I grew up believing that love wasn’t real, just some farce that was made up centuries ago and adopted by card companies and Hollywood to make money. Throughout my Christian journey, I’ve had to grapple with the idea of being loved and struggled to accept this truth much of the time; I’m by no means an expert in this, I’m learning just like you.

So let’s dive in and journey together.
